Zohran Mamdani Promises a 'Fresh Chapter' for New York City in First Speech
On his inauguration day in the mayor's office, Zohran Mamdani committed to “transform” the metropolis, ushering in “a different age” and an ambitious commencement to his term.
A Groundbreaking Mayor
The young democratic socialist, who just a year ago remained a relatively obscure state assemblyman, is the city's first Muslim mayor. He also made history by being the inaugural to be sworn in using the Qur'an.
